At a racecourse full of women in outrageous dresses, it must be difficult to choose an outfit to make sure you stand out.
But Alex Curran certainly managed it yesterday, as she arrived at Aintree Racecourse wearing a stunning grey dress complete with pointy shoulder pads.
Alex, 27, even managed to upstage fellow WAG Coleen Rooney in the creation, which she teamed with matching heeled shoes.
The mother-of-two, wife of England and Liverpool's Steven Gerrard, was spotted in the stands wearing smoky black eye make-up with her hair scraped back and simple diamond stud earrings to complete
her look.
But while Alex achieved her aim of being one of the most stylish women at the races, she had stiff competition from Coleen, who wore a sheer floaty dress for the day.
With its high neckline and below the knee length, Coleen appeared to be going for a demure look to watch the Grand National, which was won by Tony McCoy riding Don't Push It.
Coleen accessorised her outfit with a pale pink clutch and open-toed heels, teamed with dangly gold earrings and a bouffant pony-tail.
The pale peach dress was a far cry from the elegant black mini dress and Christian Louboutin heels Coleen had worn to the race on Friday to judge the Ladies’ Day Best Dressed competition.
The 24-year-old told reporters: ‘I’ve never worn black before for the races, I usually go for something colourful, but I wanted to wear something different this year.
‘I love the way all the girls make such an effort, I’ve seen lots of different colours and shapes.’
There had been speculation she wore the darker colour after her husband's Manchester United team were knocked out of the Champions League on Wednesday night.
George Primarolo, of Totesport, said: 'Black was 5/1. We did have a few bets on black because United were knocked of out Europe and people were thinking she would be in mourning.'
She declared Sophie Farclough the winner of the annual Style 2010 competition and presented her with a bundle of prizes including a £12,000 Kia Venga car and a 10-day holiday in Barbados.
Meanwhile, winning jockey Tony McCoy's day was soured a little on his way home as he was stopped and fined by police for driving while using his mobile. The offence carries three penalty points. Go for wide range of engagement rings at RoyalDesignOnline.com
